The Civil-Comp conference series began in London in 1983 and so 2013 is the thirtieth anniversary of the first conference. The CC 2013 conference was held concurrently with The Third International Conference on Soft Computing Technology in Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering (CSC 2013).

Elfogyott az első kiadás. Pár ezren megvették, néhány ezren el is olvasták, vizsgáztak belőle, utánanéztek a kisebb esettanulmányoknak, elgondolkodtak. Ha egyetemi hallgatók, talán elindított valamit az informatikáról és annak vállalati szerepéről való gondolkodásban. Ha oktatók, publikáló kutatók, talán inspirálta őket továbbolvasásra, modellek felállítására, más források felkeresésére - hiszen a szerző feladata ebben a műfajban gondolatok ébresztése, „alapanyag” összeszedése és jó
elrendezése ahhoz, hogy mások azután úttörő gondolatokra jussanak belőle. „A tökéletes vezető tökéletes adathiányban is elboldogul” - írtam Murphy nyomán a 3. fejezet mottójaként: nos, tökéletes vezetők nem léteznek. Akik így dolgoznak, nem sokáig vezetők - legfeljebb hasonlóan rövid karriert befutó politikusok. A világ ma adatok megszerzéséről, információszűrésről, tudásmenedzselésről, s - ezek eredményeképpen - megalapozott döntéshozatalról szól. Az információ hatékony kezelése ma hatalmat ad. Hatalom az adatok megszerzése, hatalom az információk megfelelő helyre történő eljuttatása, hatalom a szükséges tudással rendelkező emberek alkalmazása - egyaránt igaz ez a modem politikai életben, a hadviselésben, az ipari fejlesztésben, az egyéni életben, az üzlet miért lenne kivétel? A menedzserek azonban szkeptikusak és idegesek, ha ismét informatikáról beszélünk nekik, …
